Why are natural products better for your health? – Intelligent Living

While there have always been people who opt to use only natural products, no matter the cost or effort required, this idea has become much more mainstream over the last few years. All-natural products, whether they be home items (like dish sponges or cleaners), personal care items (such as soaps or arnica products), or food, are the best items you can choose to use for a number of reasons. Choosing natural products that are housed in as small an amount of single-use packaging like plastic and foil as possible is good for the planet but also for your health! Let’s take a look at the reasons why it’s better to use all-natural products.

1.   Improved Immune System/ Body Functions

Your body needs all the help it can get to fight off nasty germs. Eating natural foods is one sure-fire way to improve the functionality of your immune system. Naturally occurring compounds work with the chemistry of your body to bolster your immune system and keep illness at bay. Nonorganic foods might fill you up, but the best way to give your body the nourishment it really needs is through natural food products, and the best way to strengthen your immune system is natural nourishment. Natural foods that will help with immune function are citrus fruit, broccoli, garlic, ginger, spinach, and yogurt.

If you don’t want to swallow chemicals or synthetic compounds in the form of painkillers and anti-inflammatory pills, natural food is the best way to reduce inflammation and increase your mobility. Natural compounds like zinc and turmeric are particularly good for reducing inflammation, so stock up on foods or natural supplements containing these compounds.

2.   Improved Skin

Eating natural foods and using natural skin care products are going to give you healthy, smooth, glowing skin. As we mentioned before, when your body is getting what it needs, it functions well. No unnatural or excessive sugars mean less oily skin and pimples. Fatty fish offer omega acids which make your skin glow. Avocados keep your skin supple and moisturized from the inside out. Walnuts contain fats that minimize inflammation and can help with conditions like psoriasis.

Natural skincare contains naturally occurring products that, as we have concluded, are more easily processed by your body. These products operate in harmony with your skin’s natural oils and processes to give you the best skin you’ve had in your life.

3.   Balance

When you choose natural products, you are putting naturally occurring substances into your body and into your life. Even the most innocuous of synthesized products can eventually lead to harmful side effects or imbalances in your body. Natural body wash or moisturizer and natural foods are in balance with your body. It naturally understands how to absorb and handle them, which means nothing in your body will be pushed out of whack. Your body was created to exist entirely on naturally occurring products, so while we understand the urge to have a good junk food binge once in a while, your body will function at its highest potential level if it’s fed natural foods on a regular basis.

Not only does this keep your body in balance, but it keeps you in balance with the earth and the earth balanced in itself. Dishwashing liquids, shampoos, and foods wrapped in un-recyclable single-use packaging damage the earth and the oceans with every use. Currently, 380 million tonnes of plastic are produced annually, and that’s not including the plastic that already exists and which will take 450 years to decompose. Microplastics in exfoliating treatments contribute to the death of ocean life, 16 billion takeaway coffee cups are used and disposed of each year, foil food wrappers and plastic net vegetable bags end up on the streets, in the landfills, and in the mouths of wildlife. Going natural (and making use of reusable coffee cups and shopping bags) means that you are taking responsibility for your impact on the earth and making your best efforts to maintain the natural balance.

4.   No Pesticides

If you’re eating all-natural food, that means you’ve chosen organic produce which is never sprayed with chemical pesticides. Pesticides are incredibly harmful to the soil and can impact its viability for future crops. These pesticides are also damaging to the health of the communities that use potentially contaminated water sources near the farms. Produce farming sans chemical pesticides is best for the earth but it’s also best for you. Effects of pesticides on the human body can be anything from rashes, blisters, nausea, blindness, and diarrhea to cancer, birth defects, reproductive defects, neurological toxicity, and worse. The young and the elderly or infirm are particularly susceptible to these and other side effects of pesticide poisoning whether by ingesting sprayed food or living in an area adjacent to sprayed fields or contaminated water sources. Choose health for yourself and the farmworkers and their communities by choosing all-natural foods.

Final Word

Choosing all-natural foods and products is better for your health, the health of others, and the health of the planet. When you look at it like that, there’s no question that natural products are better.
